WHY TO DO A FAN FICTION
The purpose of this activity is that by doing something that they know well participants can learn how to write and how to put in images an story. It's going to be easy and fun but at the same time they are going to learn how to work on team, they are going to discover many different crafts. To go from deconstruction to re-construction is a wonderful way to learn how to make a movie.
WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO
1st step: Choose it!
- To make this project we ask to our group to explain one scene of a movie that they love. They have to learn that a scene has unity of time, space and action.
2ond step: Deconstruction!
- Once they choose one they work on group to make a Decoupage. We ask them to take some still pictures of the scene to analyse the scene.
- Draw of the shot
- Characters
- Actions
- Dialogs
- Clothes
- Propps
- Space
- Atrezzo
- Location
- Time
- Duration of the shot
- Music
- Light
- Characters
- Draw of the shot
- Then we explain how to make a decoupage. It means that they have to take each shot one by one until they have something similar to a storyboard.
3th step: Plan!
- They have to prepare a storyboard and shooting schedule. It's important that we think how every take was done and what is more important we have to figure out how are we going to make it!
- Director
- Camera
- Fotography
- Sound
- Producer
- Art
- Actors
- They have to prepare the set. It can be done on a real location or it also can be done using a chroma key. It depends on the acces and time that we have to spend on it. So we can choose a image to be the background of our story
5th step: Organize!
6th step: Practice and go for it
- We can practice some times so everybody knows what have to do.
- Everybody has to be in its place: 4, 3, 2, 1 ACTION!
- We try some times and director says it's okay it's time to finish.
- Everything in the right place!
- All has to be in order and clean
7th step: Edit!
- You can search an editor on this list [1].
8th step: Wich is more fun?
We can see the resoult and compare the original and ours. Then it's going to be fun to share it with friends.
WHAT DO WE NEED
Dispositive
- Camera: Camcorder, digital camera, mobile camera.
- Microphone
- Computer
- wires
Templates
- Project
- literary script
- Technical script
- Storyboard
- Production
HOW CAN WE USE IT?
To use this toolkit you need a basic audiovisual set.
- First step: Here we propose you to look at this resource to choose the one that fits for you. It's cool and simple: http://makeinternettv.org/
- Second step: Now that you know which is your technical equipment you can talk with the young team you are going to work with and ask them which kind of project they want to do.
- Third step: Then, you can find a guide on the workshops that we propose you!
- Four step: Go for it!
WHAT ELSE DO WE NEED TO KNOW
further readings
- AV pedagogical framework:
- "Conference: Tisseron". Fantastic explortation on the relation of young people and media. Don't you want to know more about it? Here you have his slides!
- EACEA documents on media literacy. Don't you want to make a look? There are here!
Freinet.
- Henry Jenkins and a lot of contributions are responsible of a media education manifesto. Don't you want to read it? It's here! [2]
- Here you can find a veary good guide that will help you to apply any activity related to media literacy.
- The kit is partly a product of the “MENTOR project” co-funded by UNESCO and European Commission and supported by CLEMI, CEDEFOP and Mizar Multimedia. Inspired by the late
Lluis Artigas de Quadra (UNESCO), this programme brought together scholars and practitioners of media education from the Mediterranean Basin and discussed basic training of teachers, modular curriculum, and national and international strategies for development of media education (including a website www.mediamentor.org). We thank all participants and contributors who were part of the "MENTOR Project". We strongly recomend it. Take a look! [ http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0014/001492/149278e.pdf]
